How do I manage my newly adopted webring? - 09/04/2006
Thank you for your interest in becoming RingMaster of Breeding for Structural and Genetic Soundness. The system has chosen smcol as the new RingMaster.
-------------------
Hi,
I am excited, I was allowed to adopt this small webring. I have some nice plans for it but don't know how to work the nuts and bolts of managing a webring. Have spent hours surfing the boards on webring looking for a "How-To" article on how to manage a webring. I can't find one and I think it's because I don't know the webring lingo to ask the right questions. I keep finding forums which will answer questions, but not the complete "how-to manage" article. I think one of my problems might be I am listed with webring as "bellsmoothes" and as the ringmaster as "smcol". That's because between the time I signed up and the time I was approved to adopt the ring, I reregistered because I was having trouble accessing webring. I think now that was a mistake and want to know how I go about getting everything under one name, smcol. Please can someone direct me to the info I am seeking? Also is there lexicon of "webringspeak" I can access so I can better word my questions? Thanks so much!

I usualy find some tips about "how to" at http://wrug.cjb.net/.
To merge ID's I think the best process will be :
Enter your(s) ring(s), go to "management toolbar", choose "transfer Ownership", and transfer it to the User you want to be ( certify that new account with e-mail, personal data, etc. ).It should be the account were you have your site and ring's memberships.
After the process , delete the old membership ( it will be not necessery after being empty ).

First, welcome to webring ownership and to this forum. As I read your post I could feel your excitement. So many of the post, mine included, have been about issues, problems, lack of transparency, and so on, yours was a pleasant change.

I have a small section on my website which offers some articles. You can find it here: http://WebRingDotComHelp.org

In Andrea, who is less active than she once was, placed a number of useful articles on here site here: http://wrug.cjb.net

Finally, I'd be more than happy to help you in any way I can. Perhaps helping you will help ME to create a new article for the community.

You can find instructions to reach me here:

Let us know how we can help you.
