WebRing's New Policy Re: Featured Sites Now Being Implemented ?
Can you please explain to the rest of this community your new policy regarding featured sites and why your new policy is not being implemented across the board so as to include all rings at this time.
My understanding from your previous post was that Ringmanagers will no longer be allowed to feature their own sites in their ring without paying. Is this what is now being implemented?
Why don't you folks just charge people for becoming a ringmanager? Another idea would be to make it a condition of membership in WebRing that you folks can place your ads on member sites. You could also charge members for each new ring they create. This would certainly slow the ring spammers down a bit. You could also charge members for support help. Another method of generating revenue would be simply to charge ringmanagers for their individual bandwidth usage. You could also charge members for their mail accounts - maybe a tax on each email. You could also charge more for promo ads - just a modest gradual increase and eventually the revenue would be up there where it is most satisfactory to you. You could also charge a monthly fee for every ring that is managed. You could also sell space on your main page to the highest bidder. Have you raised the price for featuring rings in the directory lately?
PS I used the form for contacting your sales dept. regarding ad space over a month ago. One way to raise revenue would be to at least respond to such inquiries.
