A Practice Guide ** Adavu-s constitute the basic building blocks with which the edifice of Bharathanatyam is built. The learning and practice of Adavu-s tones all the parts of the body so that the dancer is able to move with fluidity of ease and grace when performing full length items in the Bharathanatyam repertoire. Often, the dancer practices these Adavu-s only in the dance class under the supervision of the teacher. However, a daily practice of the adavu-s will greatly benefit dancers not only in terms of building up stamina but also so that they acquire an ease of executing different and more complex movement patterns. This CD is conceptualised and presented as an audio guide to support beginners and more experienced dancers in the practice of the Adavu-s. This CD is presented by Shri. Gajendhran who is an accomplished musician and nattuvanar. Shri. Gajendhran is also a prolific writer and has penned the lyrics and composed music for the solo and group productions of leading artistes in India and abroad. A widely travelled artiste, Shri. Gajendhran has over 5000 stage performances as an accompanying musician and over 3000 performances as a Nattuvanar to his credit. He presents this audio guide to the practice of the Adavu-s in his simple yet lucid style, with brief descriptions in Tamil where appropriate. ** Tracks: 1. Introduction 2. Thattadavu 3.
